SYBF Week 3 Wrap Up: Growth Mindset
As we wrap up this week we will review the growth development plan you worked on throughout the week. You should have a rough draft of your plan that you have slowly pulled together throughout the week.
And here’s another opportunity for Science!
Working on something in tiny focused chunks over a long period produces better results than one multi-hour session. And we have our subconscious brains to thank for that. At the start of this challenge, we talked about the negative self-talk living in our unconscious mind. Our brains also do very helpful things in that part of the brain. When we provide breaks from something that requires significant mental focus, our subconscious brain continues to process it. Returning to the project, even different parts and pieces, will produce new insights, perspectives, ideas, etc. This is known as the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon - once we open our eyes to something, we see evidence everywhere. When thinking about a project and planning it out, your subconsciousness starts to look for cues in the world that support this project.
As we close out this week, I invite you to spend a little extra time reviewing your plan as it is today. This plan is fully adaptable anytime and works best when you treat it as a “living document.”
I invite you to take your next step toward the skill or goal you have set for yourself. Just do the first easiest thing you can do to get started. Your plan will never be perfect, as you can’t plan for everything. Just get started and let it adapt as you encounter life.
Take a moment to honor yourself as we’re…
60 percent through our time together on this journey. Woot! 🎉
Next week, we’ll return to actively shaping our self-perceptions with affirmations.
I would like to promise you that it won’t look like this …
…but it might 😆.
Remember to post something from your journey or a question on this week’s blog.
